California Dreamin

I kind of fell off the face of the earth....but now I think I'm back. The days are going so quick and by the time Mason is down for a nap I feel like I need one myself.
Sam is home now  at night and I feel like we are catching up on the past two years. We go swimming, we watch a lot of reality tv, we talk, we go on ice cream runs. It's been wonderful. So please excuse the absence...but know it was all in good fun.

Last I blogged we were headed to California on vacation...and boy was it a vacation! We had an amazing time, the type you never want to go home from. Mason was a dream...no melt downs, slept well, ate well, he even did Disneyland well. That is amazing. We relaxed and had fun EVERY single day.
It was a very memorable family vacation.
(So fun Mason had total withdrawals when we got home, he was cranky, missed all of the family and was just plain BORED....I kinda was too...it was a rough couple of days.)

My side of the family rented a house in Huntington Beach, CA. just a block from the beach. It was awesome. We were right in the middle of everything, could walk everywhere, and Huntington knows how to celebrate on the 4th so that was a great time.
We arrived on the morning of the 4th of July and just barely missed the parade. But once we got to the house we quickly changed into our suits and headed down to the beach. We spent the whole afternoon there only breaking to BBQ dinner, and then went back down to watch fireworks that night.
The rest of the days were spent (kind of ) sleeping in, walking to main street for breakfast at the Sugar Shack, then heading down to the "sand box" as Mason liked to call it. Laying/playing there for a good chunk of the day, naps, maybe a little shopping or bike riding, dinner with the family, pazzookies at BJ's, movies, and late nights. We even got to spend a beach day and dinner with friends, celebrate Jordan's Birthday, and one of the best parts: Disneyland!

It was just so fun to have Sam actually be able to relax and enjoy a vacation! Mason and I soaked up every minute we could with him. Mase man loved chasing and jumping over the waves with Dad and then heading out to the pier on the bikes. My family was such a help as well...they of course adore Mason so they would entertain him for hours or help out with whatever he needed. It was just so nice to be with EVERYONE all in one place!
My little brother got engaged while we were there to his girlfriend Mikal and we couldn't be more excited.
I'm telling ya it was eventful!
It was so much fun I'm already counting down until next year ;)

*Don't worry I didn't leave out a single picture....good thing its my blog and I can picture overload if I want to!*

Funny story: I tested positive for explosives at the airport because I had moved some sparklers on the counter before we left....after a good pat down and a swipe of my clothes I was cleared to go. Scared the crap out of me though!

Mason owning the flight like a boss...loved having his own seat....we did not love having to pay for it now :(

Looks like so much fun! I'm curious to know what snacks you were able to bring on the plane for your little man. We're flying to CA next month and I need ideas for my 21 month old!

@Amanda
They didn't make me throw away anything that I packed him which was really nice! I made him a PB&J sandwich, those veggie straws from Costco, apple slices, fruit snacks, and a couple cookies (those were for bribing purposes). I'm so glad I packed him a lunch because even though our flight was at 10:30 in the am...by the time you board, fly, the time difference, he was starving...then when you get to the airport you still have to wait for luggage and drive to your destination! He would have been famished! Pack their favorites that you KNOW they will eat! Good luck!!
